Grey Street, Saturday Morning
Lucky Day Productions have been filming a new series for BBC 2 called “Show me the Monet”. Artists from around the country were invited to submit a piece of art to be judged by a hanging committee of renowned art experts to then be shown to the public at the Royal College of Arts in London.

My original of “Grey Street, Saturday Morning”  was shortlisted as one of the final 100 paintings out of over a 1000 applicants, however, despite some very positive comments from the judges, on this occasion it was not what they were looking for. I also had the pleasure of being interviewed by BBC’s Chris Hollins, a former winner of “Strictly Come Dancing”.

Despite not being selected, I enjoyed the experience. The painting may well be shown on BBC 2 when the series is televised in March.

 La Serenata a Rialto, Venice
It has been Carnival time in Venice in February. We will also have some paintings of Italy on display.

New Look

I hope you are finding our new look Alan Reed website very informative, particularly as it gives you easy access to Alan’s new wordpress blog which will have regular features including “What’s on the Drawing Board?”, “Painting on Location”  and  “Top News Story”.

January saw Alan painting several commissions for clients and a trip to Oman to launch “Sketch Book of Oman”. It’s a facsimile sketch book containing 27 giclee reproductions of sketch book studies painted over the last 3 years on location in Oman together with 13 studio watercolours inspired by the studies.

A portion of the proceeds will go to 40/40, a scholarship scheme for 40 Omani students to undertake undergraduate degrees at British affiliated Universities.

On Saturday 12th February we will be launching the Sketch Book of Oman at the Studio & Gallery in Ponteland for our UK customers, 10am - 5pm with refreshments.
