New Look

I hope you are finding our new look Alan Reed website very informative, particularly as it gives you easy access to Alan’s new wordpress blog which will have regular features including “What’s on the Drawing Board?”, “Painting on Location”  and  “Top News Story”.

January saw Alan painting several commissions for clients and a trip to Oman to launch “Sketch Book of Oman”. It’s a facsimile sketch book containing 27 giclee reproductions of sketch book studies painted over the last 3 years on location in Oman together with 13 studio watercolours inspired by the studies.

A portion of the proceeds will go to 40/40, a scholarship scheme for 40 Omani students to undertake undergraduate degrees at British affiliated Universities.

On Saturday 12th February we will be launching the Sketch Book of Oman at the Studio & Gallery in Ponteland for our UK customers, 10am - 5pm with refreshments.

Learning to Video the Artist

Today I am feeling much better than I have for quite a while and had a nasty cold last week so to have energy back is great.

Alan & I are now at painting on location, Northumberland. The idea was for me to video Alan painting on location, however, as soon as we got on the beach on this gloriously warm and sunny afternoon we saw dark clouds over to the east. Watching everyone else pack up to leave we thought we had better follow suite and just made it back to the car before the rain came lashing down……………..

45 mins later: I had to start the video in the car as Alan painted from inside with the window open, the sketch is looking good but my video techniques aren’t that great! It’s my first attempt though (Alan thinks that maybe I should just stick to cooking)

I hope he’s joking.

We arejust about to leave now and the sun is back out – typical Northumbrian or should I say English weather.
