A Match made in Heaven
‘One in a million’ couple’s remarkable story told on TV
A chance meeting at Ponteland’s Diamond Inn 20 years ago led to Susan Reed meeting her perfect match.
But little did she know just how much talented local artist Alan Reed would transform her life.
Their marriage three years later was very much a meeting of minds – as two committed Christians they already had a lot in common, as...

Italy, Wine and Websites
After a hard days work I decided to make butternut squash risotto. However, when I came to toast off the rice I realised that I had no white wine!!! not like me at all in fact I can’t ever remember having no wine in stock.
Anyway, I discovered that gin would do instead and I’m happy to report that it was a very tasty risotto indeed.
The exciting thing for me this week is that I have...

Living in Italy
A short story about some of my time living in Italy. This was published in the Italy magazine a few years ago as I won the “Your Favourite Spring Pasta” competition.
In the 1980’s I lived in Venice for a 5 years and very shortly after arriving, I met a delightful old lady called Nai. The Italian language was unfamiliar to me but she spoke beautiful English and took me under her...

Shopping in the Souk
Every trip that we make to Oman involves an hour or so in Mutrah Souk, it provides a real insight to the flavours, smells and wheeling and dealing in the Middle East.
We always stock up on frankincense which we burn at home and of course I always have to stock up on a pashmina or two.
Spices are in abundance and so are Omani daggers, maps and old artifacts, some of which probably arn’t...

Paintings of Italy

Alan being the artist was quite emotional on the day we left. He was so awestruck by the amazing architecture and already knew that he would be back many more times with his paints and brushes. This small watercolour...

Hotel Comparison

We had a fantastic sea view with a balcony which was a real treat. The food at the hotel was excellent but a little pricey and the hotel it’self although very clean and well situated was also expensive and a little tired looking.
However, I was very...

Appreciative Inquiry
There is a process in the development world called ” Appreciative Enquiry” through which people can be taught to find solutions to their difficulties by observing and mobilising the resources around them.
By recognising what they have within themselves or in their environment people can become contributors to the solution rather than relying on the generosity and expertise of others.

Spirit Christianity is not a religion. It’s a relationship with a God who is alive...
